Modeling the tumor growth profiles in xenograft experiments--letter.

چکیده

Statement of translational relevance: The new statistical model we propose in this study provides a comprehensive analysis of the tumor growth profiles observed in tumor xenograft experiments, including tumor regression rate, regression period, nadir volume and tumor regrowth rate. Each of these features provided by this model could have clinical implications for treatment. For example, higher regression rate, longer regression time, and lower regrowth rate could predict longer intervals to, and/or less frequent, tumor recurrence. This statistical approach maximizes the biological information obtained from tumor xenografts which should facilitate the translation of preclinical xenograft studies to more rationale clinical trial designs. Tumorigenicity of Esophageal Cancer Stem Cells (ECSCs) in nude mouse xenograft model

Background and objectives: Modeling cancer in vivo is a very important tool to investigate cancer pathogenesis and molecular mechanisms involved in cancer progression. Laboratory mice are the most common animal used for rebuilding human cancer in vivo. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are the main reason of failure in cancer therapy because of tumor relapse and metastasis. Isolation of cancer stem cell...

An Agent- based Modeling for Breast Tissue Simulation and the Growth and Spread of Tumor in Various Breast Cancer States

Introduction: Breast cancer is a cancer that is caused by abnormal growth of breast cells. Modeling  and simulation of the growth and treatment of breast cancer, along with providing the possibility of doing experiments and research, can reduce the time and cost of treatment by predicting some cases. The purpose of the present research was to develop an agent-based model for the simulation of b...

AGS cell line xenograft tumor as a suitable gastric adenocarcinoma model: growth kinetic characterization and immunohistochemistry analysis

Objective(s): Gastric cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. The overall survival rate of patients is poor because gastric cancers are usually diagnosed at the late stages. Therefore, further research is needed and appropriate research tools are required to develop novel therapeutic approaches.Materials and Methods: Eight female athymic nude mice with a C57BL/6 bac...
